Married 2
Hello,

Time has been moving, with a pace, that in no time soon, will slow.   Since 1967, and graduation, I have been moving around alot.   Married, the love of my live, and we are still, hanging in, Ha Ha!!   We moved to California, off and on, for 2 and half years, due to his time in the Navy.  We lived in Colorado, for 7 1/2 years.  In March, 1978, we moved to Missouri.   I had my jobs, here.  First, was working for the school system, my children attended.  I drove a School Bus, for 8 years.  Both of my children, graduated, from Republic School, my son, was the last, and that was in 1989.  Springfield, became our town, as his graduation.
My daughter, Stacey, married, her love, in 1993.  They have a son, together.  Her husband, Tom Updegraff, had two beautiful sons, who I adore.  Together, they have brought their "boys", into great young men.  The two oldest, married, with children of their own.  Boys!!!   The youngest, still at home, and will be a Sophomore, this school year.  He is into the Boy Scouts, and on the Swim Team, at his High School.
My son, Micheal, is not married.  He is a Barber, and works for Hudson Hawk.  Really enjoy his work.  He also builds and sells, BMX bikes.

This is pretty much, all there is .  We just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, March 21.   It has been a good life.

Piano teacher/Author/Speaker marciawashburn.com Married 5
I was one of those quiet classmates who went largely unnoticed in our large class. I seldom raised my hand in class and usually sat alone at lunch. I rode the bus all three years so after-school activities were out since my mother taught piano after school.
However, I was able to participate in the musicals each year as pianist in our tiny pit orchestra. Under the direction of Gene Scrimpsher and Marcelene Dillon we presented Annie Get Your Gun in-the-round in the cafeteria since the auditorium had not yet been built. The next year it was 110 in the Shade, followed by Kiss Me, Kate. I enjoyed the productions and in later life produced musicals myself so other young people could have the same experience.
When I was sixteen, I made the best decision of my life, one that changed its trajectory forever. I became a follower of Jesus. Always a church member, I discovered that I could also have a personal relationship with Christ. Through the sorrows and joys of life, He has been a Solid Rock that I could always count on.
After double-majoring in music and elementary education at UNC in Greeley, I began teaching in Fort Morgan. It was quite a change from the Front Range—people waved to you and greeted you on the street, even if they didn’t know you. I married a hometown boy (the second best decision in my life!) and we have been blessed with five sons.
After the birth of Son #1, I retired from teaching school to be a full-time mother. We decided to homeschool our sons, a little known and unusual choice in 1983, and continued to do so for nineteen years.  As expected, each son has chosen a different career path: the oldest is a division CFO for a large international company, the second is an award-winning mortgage consultant, the third is a family physician, the fourth serves in law enforcement, and the fifth owns Computer Doctors in Ft. Collins. All are married and we have twelve grandchildren with two more in heaven.
Since our sons are scattered across the country from Arizona to Florida, we find ourselves housing over two dozen people when they come to visit. My husband, now retired, is building a large addition to our home in order to house our growing family. It includes a timber frame great room and loft, plus room for additional bedrooms in the basement.
I continue to teach about two dozen piano students and launched a writing and speaking ministry in 2001. I speak regularly at home education conferences and especially enjoyed the adventure of presenting two week-long seminars in a jungle community in Ecuador. Most recently I spoke at conferences in St. Petersburg and Moscow—brrr!
Among my books are an award-winning music appreciation course (Beethoven Who? Family Fun with Music), home management, parenting, and home education books, and my latest, Home-Based Eldercare: Stories and Strategies for Caregivers. We have cared for four adult relatives in our home over the years including my mother-in-law who now lives with us.  I also serve as Assistant Director of Christian Family Eldercare (ChristianFamilyEldercare.org).
I credit the excellent education I received at AHS for helping to prepare me for the various experiences in my life. Mr. Wayne Henry taught me to write tight. Mr. Reginald Holmes taught me to think deeply about history. Mr. Don Smith and Miss Dillon taught me music theory and performance strategies that I continue to pass along to my students today. Mrs. Dorothy Scarlett taught me the craft of sewing that allowed me to stitch up costumes for our sons’ various performances.  The Latin I learned from Mrs. Elizabeth Scott has been helpful in learning other languages. Teachers do indeed “touch the future.”
I look forward to seeing many of you at our 50th reunion (Saturday only). Thanks to the committee for their hard work making the arrangements.
